What does a shipping clerk actually do?

As a shipping clerk, the whole world is open to you. Around 80 percent of the world's goods are transported by ship. This requires a lot of organization: YOUR field of activity! As a shipping clerk with us, you are entrusted with almost everything that concerns the handling of goods traffic along the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts, including the Kiel Canal. Chartering, sales, reporting, logistics and much more. all. on board. in port.
All on Board on Port

How does the training work?

At which location would you like to learn: Kiel, Hamburg, Rostock or Brunsbüttel? Once you've made your choice, you'll gradually work your way through all the departments, learning and lending a hand. We give you responsibility. Right from the start! Your first station: the Kiel Canal.
That means shift work. Changing within the week. You will have close contact with your colleagues. The shifts are intensive and bring people together. Friendships are forged here that last. The first few weeks in particular will demand a lot from you. But if you persevere, you will be richly rewarded. With one of the most varied apprenticeships in the most beautiful industry in the world!

What are my perspectives?

Cruise, cargo, ferry, customs, P&I, port and canal: We train you to be a true all-rounder. This means that the whole world is open to your career. But of course, the best thing would be if you decide to stay on board with us!

What do I need to bring to the table?

Passion. We burn for our tasks and our customers. You should be too. The quickest way to find out if you're on fire is to do an internship. If it sparks, you've already cleared the most important hurdle. The rest: organizational skills, a basic understanding of business and good school English. Let's go!
